I just received my new Felicity and Elizabeth yesterday. Elizabeth's riding habit is beautiful, but I was disappointed in Felecity's. The detailing is beautiful, but the fabric on the jacket collar, hem and cuffs is just a raw cut of the fabric. No hem or anything. Was the original one like this? The red cape online looks like a raw edge too. Does it have a hem or is it rawcut too? We want to really play with these garments (with a 5 year old) and frankly, I had trouble pulling the sleeves on. Is everything too tight this season?

I have a super old PM Riding habit. The felt is a raw edge on the jacket. It looks great after all these years. My understanding is that the cape is the same way. The fabric will not unravel on you, I promise.
Can't speak to fit; mine is PM and fits great.

I think EVERYTHING is too tight this season. From all the reviews on the products, it just seems like the measurements are completely off, even with the today items like the skirt from the Sight Seeing Outfit.
Which is really bad because I really want to order Elizabeth's tea dress along with Felicity and Elizabeth's holiday gown and cloak.

I have PM cape & riding habit (quite old--from like 1992). The cape is definitely raw edged all the way around. The riding habit is on the sleeves (but the edge is turned up with those little grommet thingies) and the collar. I can't remember if it is raw on the hem of the jacket or not, it is put away in her trunk right now. They still look just as good as when I got them (& I did actually play with them for a while, I was a pre-teen though, so accordingly careful). The only thing that didn't fare well was the feather on the hat. It totally disintegrated.

Dancin'4'AG is correct. The raw edge is accurate. I think in this case it was a happy error and not the result of research on their part. Nonwoven fabrics like felts and fleece are often left raw because they will not unravel in the wash or with use.

Yes, unfortunately the PM riding habit and cardinal cape were just cut wool, not hemmed. I thought it was a chintzy thing to do then and it's too bad it wasn't improved upon when the outfits were reissued. I have to admit, the edges haven't frayed, although I haven't used them much in the 10 years I've owned them. But it's a poor excuse for shoddy workmanship.

Actually the raw cut no heming on the cape and riding habit is historically acurate. When in colonial williamsburg this summer they were selling ladies size cardinal cloaks exactually like felicitys-raw cut.i asked about it and they said in colonial times that was the way and fashion of doing the wool-it would be so finely woven or spun that no hemming was needed or wanted for that matter. at least AG still has a little bit of correct historacy in their products.
